About the Parade

Time & Location: Parade starts at 12pm SHARP! Beginning at Fitzgerald and 5th, travelling down 5th Street and over the bridge, ending at Lewis Park where we will disband and join Pride in the Park! Parade participants must be in the marshalling area by 11:30am.

Overview: Pride is about uplifting queer joy, celebrating our diverse identities, and honouring the resilience of our queer ancestors and community members. This is a family-friendly event featuring many community partners. Everyone is invited and it’s free to attend. Comrades are welcome to witness the parade from the sidewalks of 5th St. and join in at the tale end as we march across the bridge to continue the fruity festivities.

Accessibility Info: The parade route will travel down 5th which is a paved two lane road with side walks on both sides and gradually sloped down hill to the bridge. The 5th St Bridge has a paved raised pedestrian path with a fence. There is a wheelchair accessible entrance to Lewis Park from the road. More accessibility info to come…..

Washrooms: There are no public toilets along the parade route. The library is one block over and has gendered washrooms. Once we arrive in Lewis Park there are wheelchair accessible outdoor washrooms along the walking path next to the river. Businesses along 5th St will likely allow you to use their washrooms.

Parking: There is free public parking behind The Library, outside of The Native Son’s Hall, and along 4th, 6th, and 8th St. and next to City Hall at 6th and Cliffe St.

Transit: Bus routes 1,7,8 will get you close to the Parade Route. You can find more info here.

Safer Space Commitment: This is a family-friendly event featuring many community partners. The Pride Parade is about uplifting queer joy an celebration. We do not endorse substance use or hate speech of any kind. Queer Centre is committed to creating safe spaces for intergenerational community from all walks of the rainbow to stand together in solidarity. Dear Parade Participants: Queer Centre, Weird Church, and the Comox Valley Pride Society, together with our generous community partners, are pleased to invite you to support our local 2SLGBTQIA+ community and participate in the 3rd Annual Comox Valley Pride Parade.

There is a small entry fee to help offset parade expenses, such as traffic controllers. If you’d like to participate in the event with a float, a marching band or another group please fill out the application below and send in the entry fee by Friday, August 9, 2025.

To help us ensure the event is a safe and enjoyable experience for all, please read and agree to the following…

1. A spot in the parade is not considered reserved until the fee has been submitted.

2. Floats and participants must arrive by 11:30am to the parade marshaling ground. Parade begins at 12:00pm.

3. Our insurance requires that no candy be ‘thrown’ into the crowd from floats or along the parade route. If your group would like to hand out candy or approved promotional materials, it must be handed person-to-person only.

4. All applications must include proof of insurance of vehicles.

5. Music on floats is encouraged! Please mark on your application if you’re planning to have music to help with float positioning.

6. NO solicitation for cash or ticket sales along the parade route.

7. 2/3rd of a vehicle being used as a ‘float’ must be decorated.

8. Any entrants of horses and/or live animals require a clean-up person along the parade route.

9. Large vehicles and horses require walkers on each side of the unit.

10. No float may exceed the maximum height of 3.8 meters (12’5”).

11. All participants will disperse in the marshaling area.

12. The Parade Committee will review all applications and reserve the right to accept or refuse any application or participant. If any of the above statements are not complied with, the float or participants will be removed.

13. All floats after having completed the parade route, will disperse in the marshaling area. It is imperative the dispersal be obeyed.

14. Celebrate your body remembering that the law requires absolutely bottoms must be covered.
